Access to justice (A2J) is a top priority at the Social Security Tribunal (SST). We’re focused on:

making the appeal process easier for appellants
reducing the barriers that people face when seeking justice from the SST

We use a data-driven and user-centred approach to improving our services.

2022 Progress Report: Working Together for Justice

This past year, we focused on improving access to justice. We worked with people who use our service, stakeholders and outside experts to find out how we can enhance our justice system so it works for everyone. We relied on the principles of collaboration, data-driven decisions, and transparency.

2021 Progress Report: Justice is a service for everyone

Despite the challenges created by the pandemic, we continued to improve A2J by expanding our navigator service, using plain language in more of our documents, and using alternative dispute resolution for resolving appeals early at the Appeal Division.
