Our mandate
The Social Security Tribunal (SST) is an independent administrative tribunal that makes decisions on social security appeals.
We’re committed to providing the people who use our services with an appeal process that’s simple, quick and fair.
The SST’s General Division hears appeals of reconsideration decisions from Service Canada about:
- Canada Pension Plan (CPP) disability benefits
- Other CPP benefits
- Old Age Security (OAS) and Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) benefits
- the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB)
The SST’s Appeal Division hears appeals of:
- General Division decisions
- Employment Insurance (EI) Board of Appeal opens a new window decisions, about EI benefits
