We’re making progress with our new Rules and processes

Back in August, we told you about the first phase of consultations on our approach to our new Rules of Procedure and processes. There was a lot of interest and we received a tremendous response. We’ve reviewed the feedback we received. Now, we want to share what we learned from those consultations and what we plan to do.

What we heard and what we’re doing

We’re sharing two documents which cover what we heard during the consultation:

  • A summary document provides the takeaways from the consultations with stakeholders and describes: what we proposed, what feedback we received, and what we plan to do with the Rules.
  • An infographic snapshot of the survey results on the Rules. It shows who took part and what matters to them.

What happens next

Based on what we heard, we’re now drafting our new Rules of Procedure in plain language. Once a draft is ready, we’ll share it with experts in administrative law and plain legal language writing to get their feedback on whether we’re writing in a way that people who use the system understand.

Then, we’ll do a formal consultation with the general public through the Canada Gazette. The draft Rules will be available for public comment at that time.

Keep an eye on our Twitter and LinkedIn accounts for updates!
