I’m pleased to share our 2022 Progress Report, Working Together for Justice, outlining our achievements for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

This past year, we worked to enhance access to justice by making sure the people who use our services are at the heart of everything we do. Collaboration was central to our approach. We know that we don’t have all the answers, so collaborating helped us move in the right direction.

We relied on 3 principles to help us build a justice system designed around the needs of the user:

  • Collaboration
We worked with outside experts, stakeholders, and of course, users themselves, to learn what our clients need.
  • Data-driven decisions
We evaluated our services regularly and used the data – not assumptions – to inform what steps we should take to improve.
  • Transparency
We published what we did so that appellants and all Canadians can see how we work.

I encourage you to take a moment to read our report. We’re excited about the positive steps we took towards building a justice system that’s simple, quick, and fair for the user.
