What do we know about the people who use our services?
Our goal is to create an accessible justice system designed around the needs of the user. To accomplish this, we need to know about the people who use our services. This is because we want to base our access to justice initiatives on data, not guesswork.
We recently looked at 480 files opened over a one-year period from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021. We reviewed each file and compiled demographic information, such as:
- age
- pronouns
- education
- disabilities
All of the data is anonymized, so that people’s privacy is protected.
This scan helped us learn more about the diverse needs of our appellants. In turn, that allows us to better target our services. I invite you to have a look at the results.
We know that data and evidence are the best foundations for any effective change. Analysing this type of information is an important step towards an administrative justice system that works for the user.
