Service standards: How long will I wait for a decision after my hearing?

Appellants often ask us how long they will have to wait for a decision after their hearing. At the General Division, we’ve set new service standards for this period.
After your hearing at the General Division, under normal circumstances, we will make a final decision:
- For Employment Insurance appeals: within 15 days
- For Income Security (Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security): within 30 days
We currently do not have a formal standard for this at the Appeal Division, but you can typically expect a hearing within 90 days after you get permission to appeal, and a final decision within 60 days of your hearing.
I invite you to consult all our service standards and compare them to our actual results. We update this information quarterly.
